Classic BMW Cars

For generations, luxury drivers in Boca Raton have turned to the Ultimate Driving Machine when they’ve wanted a quick, agile, sporty, and fun-to-drive premium vehicle. BMW has a reputation for excellence, and it’s made some of the most exciting cars ever made. If you’re looking to get a classic BMW, here are some of the best.

1956 BMW 507 (1956-1959)

You know that a car has a certain cool factor to it when The King himself owned a pair. Elvis Presley bought a 1957 BMW 507 while stationed in Germany. Fans of the musician were so inclined to kiss it with lipstick on that Presley had the car painted red. While the 507 wasn’t a big success for BMW when it launched, it’s since come into its own as a cult classic that’s got drivers all shook up.

BMW E39 M5 (1998-2003)

The BMW E39 M5 was regarded as the premier performance sedan of the time when it debuted in Geneva in 1998. More than 20 years later, its appeal endures. The E39 was the first M5 to use a V8, putting down a massive 394 horsepower and enabling it to run a blistering 8:20 at Nürburgring. While every generation of M5 is a classic, there was undeniably something special about the E39.

1990 BMW 8 Series

The original 8 Series debuted in 1989 at the Frankfurt Motor Show and went into production the following year. It immediately carved out its own legacy as a legendary performance vehicle — it was the first vehicle to pair a six-speed manual transmission to a V12, making for an unbelievable experience behind the wheel. The BMW 8 Series continues to get better with each generation, but that classic first is a must-have if you’re a purist.

BMW E30 M3 (1986-1991)

Speaking of firsts, the first-ever BMW M3 is the stuff legends are made of. Built from 1986 to 1991, the E30 M3 took the most successful car in German Touring Car Championship history and turned it into a street-ready performance machine made for enthusiasts. With a quick and powerful inline four-cylinder engine that put out upwards of 238 horsepower, the classic M3 was an absolute dynamo that quickly found favor with drivers in Florida and across the U.S. The rest, they say, is history.

BMW Z1 Roadster (1989-1991)

What speaks to the thrill of driving in Florida more than a sporty droptop? And they don’t get sportier or more luxurious than the classic BMW Z1 Roadster. The BMW Z1 took up the mantle for the classic BMW 507 and paved the way for the equally beloved Z3. But just because it’s sandwiched between two greats doesn’t mean the BMW Z1 isn’t legendary in its own right. With unique vertically retracting doors and removable plastic body panels, the Z1 still feels one of a kind to this day. It also remains an incredible performer by any standard thanks to its 2.5-liter six-pot and five-speed GETRAG manual transmission.

1973 BMW 2002 Turbo

Today, the BMW lineup is well-known for its range of turbocharged engines, offering a great mix of power and proficiency. But turbo power wasn’t always common in the Ultimate Driving Machine. In 1973, BMW launched the 2002 Turbo, its first-ever turbocharged production car. Putting down 168 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque, this high-powered car saw its production limited by the oil crisis. That makes the 2002 Turbo a true trailblazer and one of the more coveted cars in the brand’s history. Without this incredible car, there would have never been an M2.

BMW M1 (1978-1981)

There may be no BMW more coveted than the M1, the mid-engine, built-by-hand performance dynamo limited to just 399 road-going examples. Made as a stiff rebuke to Lamborghini, the BMW M1 has shades of Italian performance luxury by way of Germany. Sporting a 3.5-liter inline-six, the M1 put down 273 horsepower and hit a top speed of 162 mph. This incredibly rare BMW is one of the most impressive cars the brand has ever made, and the first to be developed solely by BMW M.

BMW has decades of excellence behind it, and that’s why it’s one of the world’s best-known luxury brands.
